This year’s Winter Concert was presented with Sun Dance and Shenandoah lyrics composed and arranged by Frank Ticheli, The stone Guest composed by Brian Hogg played by Concert Band with Eric Bitterman as the Conductor. The Symphonic Band played Where the Blackhawk Soars by Robert W. Smith, Portrait of a Clown by Frank Ticheli, The Rowan Tree by Randall Standridge and Flight of Valor composed by James Swearingen. The Chamber Orchestra played piece from Edward Elgar arranged by Mtchell Dander and Schottisches by Tranditional German arranged by Lloyd Conley with Matthew Caron as the Conductor. The evening ended with London Symphony which is may be considered as First Movement by Franz Joseph Haydn arranged by Merle J. Isaac and Tales from the Vienna Woods a Waltz series by Johann Strauss arranged by J. Frederick Miller played by the Combined Orchestra.
The Chamber Orchestra wore colorful costumes made of oriental shades and the Concert Band wore traditional black tuxedo suits with bow ties and the ladies wore black evening gowns. This program was eclectic with sound and light effects coordinating with the staccato and legato flow of the music. The Percussion players rejuvenated the crowd with their instruments sounds bringing the crowd to their feet clapping at the end of each piece. Thanks to all the key players for producing such an event.
